Local Heroes

Green fever seems to be sweeping through the hills as residents are jumping onto the environmental bandwagon.

Kellyville resident Inderjeet Singh Virdi wants to launch a community project in his area to raise awareness about carbon footprints created through our daily activities.

Mr. Virdi said that his program aimed to engage local residents through regular meetings of old and young alike and identify ways that families could reduce their carbon footprint.

“People always think issues like this are someone else’s problem,” he said. “We need to start addressing the environment at a grass roots level. I would love to see families discussing these issues around the dinner table.”

Mr. Virdi is distributing leaflets to households to gauge numbers if people are interested in meeting to discuss how they can help make the neighbourhood and households “greener”.
