The Satellite newspaper has spotlighted one mum’s crusade to end bullying in schools. In an article titled “Mum’s mission to stop bullying”, Lee Amundsen talks about how she is starting a pilot anti-bullying program at Jindalee State School where her daughter is a student. The idea came about as Amundsen’s project in her self-expression and leadership course through Landmark Education.
Amundsen says she is passionate about children having confidence and the ability to stand up for themselves. The program would have a martial arts instructor teach the children self-defence, not to be used for violence but to give children the confidence to know they can get out of difficult situations.
Amundsen, who has three children of her own, says the program is starting with the Jamboree ward, but eventually wants to such a program adopted by Austrlia’s entire school system.
